چکیده

Abstract The current study investigates the exfoliation corrosion behavior of friction stir welded aluminum composite. casting method was employed to fabricate chromium oxide (2 and 4% wt) reinforced Al 6061 composites. fabricated composite samples are with two process parameters. solution immersion tests were performed for intervals per ASTM G34 (24 h, 48 h), weight loss employed. sample is analyzed by optical microscope FESEM surface roughness. gelatinous product formed over can apply pressure grains resulting in formation pits. intergranular (IGC) continuous penetration suffering from IGC more susceptible pit. weight-loss not sufficient predict damage induced exco solution. Evaluating pit depth help know severity corrosion. measurement difficult due its irregular nature. roughness instrument used, represented average (Ra) (Rz). exposure duration welding parameters play a significant role More material lost at higher extended hours test, forming deterioration.

Fatigue of Friction Stir Welded 2024-T351 Aluminium Alloy

Fatigue failure characteristics of friction stir welds in 13mm gauge 2024-T351 plate have been assessed. Failure occurred from either the weld region (nugget/flow arm) or from the material immediately surrounding the weld. Fatigue failure from the surrounding material was essentially conventional, initiating from large S-phase intermetallic particles and growing in a macroscopic mode I manner. ...

The Strength of Friction Stir Welded and Friction Stir Processed Aluminium Alloys

Local strength of friction stir (FS) welds and FS processed aluminium alloys in heat treatable aluminium alloys is dominated by precipitation hardening. Strengthening due to stored dislocations is generally limited to 40MPa, and grain size strengthening is generally less than 10MPa. Local crystallographic texture can cause yield strength variation on the order of 5%. Published models for streng...

Corrosion behaviour of friction stir welded AZ61A magnesium alloy welds immersed in NaCl solutions

The extruded AZ61A magnesium alloy plates of 6 mm thickness were butt welded using friction stir welding (FSW) process. The corrosion behavior of the welds was evaluated by conducting immersion test in NaCl solution at different pH value, immersion time and chloride ion concentrations. An empirical relationship was established incorporating pH value, immersion time and chloride ion concentratio...

Experimental Investigations on Microstructural and Mechanical Behavior of Friction Stir Welded Aluminum Matrix Composite

The welding of materials by applying Friction Stir Welding technique is a new solid-state joining technique. The main advantage of this method compared to the traditional joining process is that it minimizes problem-related to metal resolidification as the method incorporates no melting phase. In this experimental work, the effect of friction stir welding (FSW) technique on the microstructu...
